Ecuador

14 Mar 2010, Tena: Development Work in the Amazonas Basin.

Las Latas, EcuadorIn the meantime I was in touch with the DED (Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst, German Development Service) in Quito. We came to an agreement that Chris and I will support the efforts of the DED and the Provincial Government of Napo to modernise the IT systems in the government offices in Tena. Chris looks after the network infrastructure, while I design a new homepage from scrach for the provincial government. We'll probably stay for about three months in Tena.

05 Jan 2010, Guayaquil: Catching up with my German friend Chris from Auckland, New Zealand

Chris and Fabian in Quito, EcuadorI finally met up with Chris again. Chris and I first met more than two years ago in Sydney just before I travelled to New Zealand. In New Zealand we shared a house in Auckland and spent the last months together in Auckland working in IT. On July 10th, 2010 we both left New Zealand to continue our travels. Chris went via Thailand and Germany to Venezuela and I started my overland tour in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Starting in Guayaquil in the South we travelled along the coast of Ecuador in a northerly direction towards Esmeraldas and stopped over in coastal towns for a few days whenever we found a nice place with interesting people. From Esmeraldas we turned inland, crossed the equator and finally came to Ecuador's capital city: Quito.
